Companies and services to watch in 2007. These companies will definitely change a developers life, and change a business workers life. Without intervention of a developer, end-users are able to create application mashups themselves.

This brings me to my next point, the role of the developer, nowadays we have roughly two kinds of developers, a client-server developer and a web developer, mixed with a graphic designer. Now, with the emerging Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0 trend, there’s a strong need for a new kind of developers, one’s with specific knowledge. As mentioned in an earlier post (sorry, it’s in dutch, you can use Altavista’s Babel to translate) for enterprise 2.0 Agile is a strong driver. But, voor Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0 knowledge of Rich Internet Applications (RIA), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and a Business Developer are a must to have. To serve your customers, and to achieve the point of technical knowledge needed, I think it’s a wise advise to train your senior developers instead of attracting non-skilled developers. Simply because strong knowledge of business processes and marketing is needed, but also enterprise technical knowledge is needed. These skills are not present with juniors.
